Sports facilities

As one of the best indoor training facilities in the country, the IAC is a UK Athletics Regional Performance Centre and is the chosen training venue for many of the country’s finest athletes. The venue space is so versatile that you can turn it into a training centre, examination hall, indoor festival or even a large-scale banqueting function.

Our facilities include:

• Two long jump/triple jump pits
• Pole vault area
• High jump area
• 25 metre plyometric surface
• Strength and conditioning area
• 6 lifting platforms
• Meeting room
• Lecture room with full media facilities

At the heart of our sports centre is our Brunel gym, hosting four training zones, a cardio area complete with TV, internet and iPod connectivity, a resistance zone, a free weights section and an exercise studio. Our multi-purpose exercise studio provides the ideal space for any aerobic fitness, dance and spinning classes.

We have two multi-purpose sports halls and one netball hall suitable for basketball, badminton, netball, volleyball, martial arts as well as many other sports. Our flexible indoor halls are ideal for casual users, local clubs and international teams.

Our halls can accommodate 250-300 spectators and have an integrated scoreboard and timing systems with good lighting, which enables us to become popular venue for a wide range of sporting and non-sporting events. Our halls are fitted with sprung flooring and equipment recognised by an industry lead sports specialised supplier.

Our sports hall houses an indoor climbing wall and pump room, which is rated in the top 10 in the country by the BMC. Lessons and courses are run weekly to give everyone the ultimate experience. The wall has a number of different sections catering for all techniques, ages and abilities.

We have four squash courts with a viewing gallery catering for casual, league and match requirements. Our courts are available for public membership or casual use. Squash leagues are run for staff, students and members.

Our sports park is serviced by a Sports Pavilion, which went under a £1.2million refurbishment programme in 2013 and boasts numerous team changing rooms with integrated showers, unisex toilets and catering services (available on request). The premises are licensed to service alcohol in the social space and there’s a large function room with full AV requirements and seating for 40 people.
